Commission on Human Relations
Equal Employment Opportunity is The Law

The law protects you from discrimination because of race, color, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, religion, age, place of birth, ancestry, national origin, and disability.

You have the right to file a complaint if you suspect you were a victim of discrimination.

Have you been treated unfairly in your search for housing?

Housing discrimination based on your race, color, national origin, religion, sex, familial status, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, ancestry, place of birth, or disability is illegal.

If you have tried to buy or rent a home or apartment and you believe your rights have been violated, contact us to file a fair housing complaint.

Welcome to the Commission on Human Relations!

Press Conference: Human Rights Day of Action

We will be holding a press conference on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at 12pm on the portico of the City-County Building, 414 Grant Street.

In light of recent government policy changes, travel bans, and executive orders the Commission seeks solidarity with other human rights agencies across the country, and asks that you stand with us in our effort to end discrimination.

This year, the Commission had an exhibit in the City-County Building lobby to spread the word on fair housing.  Commissioner Gerhardt, member of the Housing Committee and Chair of the Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing Task Force, spoke to the City's communications team regarding the Commission's role in furthering fair housing in the City of Pittsburgh. Check out the video here!
