Amanda Z. Rubio, Esquire was first appointed to the Pittsburgh Commission on Human Relations by Mayor Luke Ravenstahl in October 2008. She served as the Commission’s first liaison to the Mayor’s Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Advisory Council from 2009 to 2011. Commissioner Rubio was reappointed to the Commission by Mayor Luke Ravenstahl in June 2010 and by Mayor William Peduto in November 2014.
Commissioner Rubio is an associate attorney and member of the litigation practice group at Reed Smith LLP. Commissioner Rubio's experience in commercial and civil litigation gives her a unique understanding of cases involving employment discrimination which come before the Commission.
Commissioner Rubio earned an undergraduate degree in political science from the University of Notre Dame, where she graduated magna cum laude, before earning a law degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. Commissioner Rubio is a member of the Asian Attorney Committee of the Allegheny County Bar Association (ACBA), the Young Lawyers Division of the ACBA, the Women’s Bar Association of Western PA, the Pennsylvania Bar Association, and the American Bar Association.
