Children can enjoy creativity in nature’s studio – the great outdoors – when the Citiparks Roving Art Cart visits neighborhood parks and playgrounds this summer. Paint, sculpt, bead and catch surprises as the sun warms and the wind rustles.
The Roving Art Cart visits neighborhood parks and playgrounds beginning in June and concluding in August. The program visits one site each Tuesday through Friday (10 a.m. – 1 p.m.) and weekend community festivals and citywide special events (hours vary per event).
The Roving Art Cart festivities kick off with a special opening day celebration on Tuesday, June 19, at Allegheny Commons Park (West Commons) near the National Aviary, North Side.
The 39th season brings exciting new art projects and visiting local artists. Bicycle Spin Art uses human power for spontaneous creative expression on recycled materials. Children can create ArtBots with CMU’s CREATE Lab, paper mache with regional puppeteers and star in their own comic with the help of ToonSeum.
