On Sunday morning, September 29, a record field of 15,500 runners and walkers will take to the streets of Pittsburgh for the 36th running of the Richard S. Caliguiri City of Pittsburgh Great Race presented by Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield.
The 10K run – which will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Beechwood Blvd. in Frick Park – will follow a predominantly downhill course along Fifth Ave. and the Blvd. of the Allies to Point State Park in downtown Pittsburgh. A 5K run and walk – beginning at 8:00 a.m. – will start at Fifth Ave. and Atwood St. in Oakland and follow the same route as the 10K to the finish line.
Race organizers have announced the following schedule of street closings for Sunday morning, September 29:
Start Line at Beechwood Blvd. to Forbes and Morewood Aves. will close to traffic at 8:30 a.m. and open at approximately 10 a.m.
Forbes and Morewood avenues to Fifth Ave. and Bigelow Blvd. will close to traffic at 8:30 a.m. and open at approximately 10:30 a.m.
Fifth Ave. and Bigelow Blvd. to Fifth Ave. at Blvd. of the Allies Slip Ramp will close to traffic at 6:30 a.m. and open at approximately 10:45 a.m.
Blvd. of the Allies to Wood St. to Ft. Pitt Blvd. to Commonwealth Pl. will close to traffic at 6:30 a.m. and open at approximately 11 a.m.
Commonwealth Pl. and Liberty Ave. will close to traffic on Sunday, Sept. 29, from 6 a.m. – 11 a.m.
