On Sunday, September 27, thousands of runners and walkers took to the streets of Pittsburgh for the 32nd running of the Richard S. Caliguiri City of Pittsburgh Great Race presented by Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield. A total of 12,788 individuals registered for the race - 8,292 for the10K run and 4,496 registered for the 5K run/walk - making it the second largest field in the race's history. (Record of 12,807 set in 1987).
In the 10K open division, Andrew Carnes, 22, of Canton, Ohio, was the winner in the men's competition with a time of 30:35. Mary Gill, 29, of Carrboro, North Carolina, was the winner in the women's competition with a time of 35:59.
In the 5K competition, Ryan Anderson, 22, of Orchard Park, New York, won the male division with a time of 15:06. Stephanie Sproule, 42, of Wexford, Pennsylvania, won the female division with a time of 18:28.
