"Bump In The Night" At Frick Environmental Center Celebrates Autumn For Two Weekends In October

Gather your family, scout troop or youth group for an enjoyable celebration of autumn - "Bump in the Night" - at the Frick Environmental Center in Squirrel Hill.

This year's autumn celebration will take place completely outdoors (participants should dress for the weather) from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. on the following dates:

  • Friday and Saturday, October 16 & 17
  • Friday and Saturday, October 23 & 24

"Bump in the Night" encourages children to enjoy - rather than fear - the night. Families, scouting troops and youth organizations enjoy storytelling around a campfire, a sing-along, a walk on the trails, an opportunity to meet a nocturnal mammal and other related activities.

The cost is $10 for adults (ages 12 and up) and $8 for children (ages 3 - 11). Space is limited, so reservations are required. Visit for a registration form.

The Frick Environmental Center is located at 2005 Beechwood Blvd. in Squirrel Hill. In addition to conducting environmental education programs, the Center is responsible for maintaining a 151-acre urban nature reserve.

Families are invited to assist the Frick Environmental Center staff with preparations for "Bump in the Night." Stop by on Tuesday, October 13, and/or Tuesday, October 20, from 4 - 8 p.m. to carve pumpkins and make decorations for the festivities.
