"ARTWorks" art exhibit will showcase work of City of Pittsburgh employees
City of Pittsburgh employees - past and present - are invited to participate in the 11th annual "ARTWorks" competition to showcase the creative talents of City employees, their families and members of their households. New in 2010 - the competition has expanded to include entries from retired City employees.
The City-County Building's grand lobby will serve as the setting of this impressive collection of paintings, photographs, drawings, pottery and other unique pieces of artwork created by professional, nonprofessional and youth artists.
The free exhibit will open with a reception and awards ceremony on Tuesday, April 13, at 5:30 p.m. and will remain on display weekdays from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. through Thursday, April 22, at the City-County Building, 414 Grant Street, Downtown Pittsburgh.
"ARTWorks: The National Arts Program In Pittsburgh" allows artist of all skill levels the rare opportunity to exhibit their work as well as to compete for cash prizes and art education scholarships. A panel of judges will select more than 30 individuals to be honored with awards including Best of Show and Judges' Choice (youth 18 and under).
The 11th annual "ARTWorks: The National Arts Program in Pittsburgh" is sponsored by The National Arts Program Foundation and the City of Pittsburgh Department of Parks and Recreation.
The deadline for entries is Wednesday, April 7.
