"Last year's kick-off event was a tremendous success, attracting more than 200 people who not only enjoyed playing tennis but also enjoyed watching the sport on such a unique setting," according to Jose Mieres, FPCCTC co-founder and president. "This year, we're very excited about the clay courts now featuring new fences and a new exhibition court."

According to Mayor Luke Ravenstahl, "The red clay tennis courts at Frick Park have a rich history. It is certainly one of the City's great assets, and we're pleased to collaborate with the Frick Park Clay Court Tennis Club to ensure the future of this unique facility."

In May, the club will begin its schedule of summer leagues and clinics at the clay courts in Frick Park. Free beginner adult and children quickstart clinics will take place on Sundays from noon -1 p.m. June through September.

Highlights of the 2010 season calendar will include:

3rd ANNUAL FRENCH OPEN TENNIS CELEBRATION - This Block Party is free and open to the public. Wood racquets will be provided for players to celebrate the outstanding tradition of tennis at Frick Park, which has hosted tennis events since these outstanding clay courts were construction in 1930. The festivities will include exhibition matches, free clinics games and prizes for adults and children of all ages and playing levels. The celebration will take place on Saturday, May 29, 2010 from 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. (Rain date is Sunday, May 30, at 1 p.m.)

This annual classic - now in its 90th year - will take place July 14 - 25, 2010.
