Lace up your ice skates one last time this winter! The Schenley Park Skating Rink - one of only four outdoor rinks located in Allegheny County and the only regulation size rink in the City of Pittsburgh - is open for a few more sessions before closing on Wednesday, March 16, after the afternoon session.
"The Schenley Park Skating Rink remains an extremely popular destination each winter," according to Mayor Luke Ravenstahl. "Nothing compares with skating outside in the elements, and our rink offers a beautiful tree-lined setting, great music and a view of the downtown Pittsburgh skyline."
Throughout the winter the rink operated daily and offered a variety of public sessions and special sessions such as "family night," "adults only nights" and "college ID discount sessions." The facility hosted three successful special events: "Skate with Santa" in December, "Mascot Skate" in January and "Valentines on Ice" in February.
Final skating sessions of 2011:
Tuesday, March 15 from 7 - 9 p.m. and 9:30 - 11:30 p.m. (adults only)
Wednesday, March 16 1:30 - 3:30 p.m.
