The Commission on Naming Public Properties established guidelines and specifications for naming or changing the name of a public property of facility. These guidelines and specifications include mechanisms for recieving requests and recommendations, provisions for public hearings and meetings, and a general requirement that naming or renaming a public property or facility for an individual person can only be recommended and approved if that person has been deceased for at least three (3) years.
The Commission on Naming Public Properties performs due diligence related to the historic, artistic, and cultural background of any facility proposed to be named or renamed and provide a report, in writing, to accompany any subsequent recommendation.
Naming Commission public meetings are heald at 2:00 PM in the First Floor Hearing Room of 200 Ross St. Pittsburgh, PA 15219.
