The Civic Leadership Academy is now accepting applications for its Fall 2016 class. This free 10-week course on City government is open to all residents. It's a great inside look at how many of Pittsburgh's departments and authorities function.
Residents will have the opportunity to learn about 12 different departments and authorities, including the Department of City Planning, the Urban Redevelopment Authority, the Police Bureau, the Parking Authority, and more.
Forty students from different backgrounds, ages, and neighborhoods will be accepted into the Civic Leadership Academy. Up to 15 seats will be reserved for new Americans as part of Mayor Peduto's Welcoming Pittsburgh initiative.
Classes are held every Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. beginning September 14.
The application can be found here, along with a course schedule, course materials, and participant testimonials. Previous sessions can be found on YouTube here.
Applications are due August 5. For more information, please contact Sally Stadelman, Civic Leadership Academy Coordinator, at 412-255-2903 or email@example.com.
