The Office of Mayor William Peduto and Citiparks will be kicking off new programming at Citiparks Community Centers in Carrick, Polish Hill and District 5's Greenfield. There will be three nights of potluck-style celebrations bringing together friends and neighbors to eat, enjoy music, play games, and learn about the wide array of activities and amenities available at the centers. The new programming will build on existing Citiparks offerings and is the result of one of thirty-seven recommendations outlined in Mayor Peduto's Welcoming Pittsburgh Plan, the City's five-year roadmap to build a more welcoming environment for Pittsburgh growing immigrant community and a more livable city for all.
The potluck at Magee Recreation Center will be Thursday, November 5th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The center is located at 745 Greenfield Avenue, Pittsburgh PA 15217.
Upcoming programming at the centers will include citizenship and English conversation classes, financial education sessesion on homeownership and banking basics (interpreted in both Nepali and Spanish), and cultural enrichment sessesions lead by local immigrant organizations to share their community's culture and activities in Pittsburgh with fellow residents.
Residents are encouraged to bring their friends, family, and a dish to share at the Welcome, Neighbor! potlucks. For more information on programming offered by Citiparks year-round, visit http://pittsburghpa.gov/citiparks/ or stop by your neighborhood Citiparks center.
