Dan Wood is the Chief of Staff for the District 6 office. He manages the council office, assists the Councilman in researching policy and legislation, and represents the office at meetings and community events. Dan originally came to Pittsburgh from New Jersey to attend Carnegie Mellon University, where he obtained a BA in English. He is currently enrolled at CMU to obtain a Masters in Public Management, and was previously employed at the Hispanic Center as an Employment Specialist. In his spare time, Dan is an avid soccer player and enjoys playing the bass guitar.   

Bernelle Wood

Bernelle is the Executive Assistant to Councilman Lavelle. She represents the office at community meetings and events, and also organizes events for the office. Bernelle was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA. She graduated from California University of Pennsylvania in 2005 with a bachelors of science in business administration with a concentration in marketing. She worked for the Housing Authority City of Pittsburgh soon after graduating as a housing specialist. She then moved on to work as an assistant site manager for Addison Terrace. Bernelle lived for a few years in Baltimore, MD where she was a council technician for Councilman Carl Stokes. She enjoys cooking and taking trips.

Shanalee Russell

Shanalee Russell is a part time Administrative Assistant for the District 6 office. She is responsible for the Councilman's schedule, assists the Chief of Staff in research and writing policy and legislation, and drafts monthly e-blasts and job newsletters. Before joining the District 6 team, Shanalee has worked and gained experience in numerous internships in Washington DC and Maryland. Her background includes grassroots advocacy, lobbying, campaigning, tracking congressional legislation, fundraising, and labor policy. She is currently pursuing her BA in Political Science at the University of Pittsburgh. She enjoys following and reading about national policy and politics.
