Recycling Drop-Off Centers
Managing Your Waste

City residents are encouraged to take advantage of one of the many recycling drop-off centers across the city. Recycling services are FREE for City residents. 


Drop-Off Locations

Public Works drop-off centers are open Monday - Friday (except holidays) from 8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. unless otherwise noted below.

East End Drop-Off Center

In addition to recyclables, these locations also accept yard debris, scrap metal and tires. Saturday hours may also be available.
Knoxville Drop-Off Center

Strip District Drop-Off Center
3001 Railroad St
Pittsburgh, PA 15201
These facilities are open 24 hours/day. Also open to small businesses, bars and restaurants. Do not accept yard debris, scrap metal or tires.
Construction Junction
214 N Lexington Ave
Pittsburgh, PA 15208
Facility is open during Construction Junction business hours.
Does not accept yard debris, scrap metal or tires.

Accepted Materials

All materials must be separated into the following categories and placed into their respective containers at each drop-off location:

  • White Office Paper
  • Newspaper
  • Cardboard
  • Glass, Aluminum/Steel Cans, and Plastic Bottles/Jugs (#1-5 & 7)
  • Magazines, Catalogs and Paperboard
  • Mixed Paper - Junk Mail/Phone Books/Hardcover Books

The following items are ONLY accepted at the East End, Hazelwood, and West End Drop-Off Centers:

  • Scrap Metal
  • Tires
  • Yard Debris

Do not take these items to any of the other drop-off centers.
