Pittsburgh Civic LEAF Academy

Mayor Ravenstahl's Civic Leader for an Environmentally Alternate Future (LEAF) Academy is a free summer program that provides an interactive opportunity for high school students to learn how local government, public and private businesses work together to keep Pittsburgh “green.”

Civic LEAF Academy’s five-week program includes tours, hands-on demonstrations and fun activities that give an up-close and personal view of how both personal and public decisions impact environmental protection, job creation, green infrastructure decisions and community development.  In each session, participants learn about different aspects of sustainability, beginning with an introduction of the themed topic (Summer 2013 – Health and Safety) and concluding with a mock press conference, where students share their thought about their summer experience.  One session is held each year during the summer.
