CITY'S PICNIC SHELTER PERMIT DAY ANNOUNCED

(PITTSBURGH) March 5, 2013   The City of Pittsburgh's Annual Shelter Permit Day will be held on Saturday, March 23 in the lobby of the City-County Building, located at 414 Grant Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15219. Pittsburgh residents who are interested in reserving any of the City’s 26 picnic shelters from May 1st through September 30th are encouraged to attend.

Due to the high demand to reserve shelters, applicants will participate in a lottery selection process. The lottery will be conducted for City residents only. Lottery numbers will be distributed from 7:30 to 8:15 a.m. on the portico of the City-County Building. Numbers will be called inside the lobby starting promptly at 8:30 a.m.

Applicants must be at least 21 years old and provide proof of residency to obtain a permit. Payment in full can be made in the form of cash, money order or certified check, and should be made payable to: Treasurer, City of Pittsburgh.

Reservations are currently being accepted for rental of the enclosed shelters located in Banksville Park, West End Park and at the West End/Elliott Overlook. These shelters are available for rental year-round. Shelter permits can be purchased Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Department of Public Works, located at 611 Second Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15219.
