A native of Cuba born under a communist regime who moved to the United States when she was 6 years old, Lourdes and her husband Robert have three children.
She earned her undergraduate degree in Accounting from the University of Miami, and earned her law degree from the University of Florida.
Lourdes is presently an attorney at Clark Hill Thorp Reed. She has represented clients in various civil and criminal actions, with a particular focus on fraud, and has conducted internal investigations of corporations in various industries such as health care, pharmaceutical, and manufacturing. She has defended investigations by the United States Attorney’s Office in several Districts, U.S. Office of Congressional Ethics, state and Federal Grand Juries, Federal Aviation Administration and the Pennsylvania Attorney General. Lourdes is also experienced in the area of domestic public and commercial bribery as well as international bribery and corruption including the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. She has been a speaker on numerous occasions on the FCPA to international lawyers, corporations and certified public accountants.
She previously served as an Assistant United States Attorney in Washington, D.C. and during the 1980s served as an Assistant State Attorney in Miami, Florida.
Lourdes is the former Chair of the Pittsburgh Metropolitan Area Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, a non-profit organization whose goals are to promote and aid Hispanic businesses to succeed as well as provide a link between corporate America and the Hispanic community in Southwestern Pennsylvania. She also played a significant role in the formation of the Hispanic Bar Committee of the Allegheny County Bar Association. She is fluent in Spanish.
As Solicitor and Chief Legal Officer, Lourdes oversees all legal and ethical functions of city government, with responsibilities over the Law Department, Ethics Hearing Board, and the Office of Municipal Investigations.
