PITTSBURGH, PA (Feb. 23, 2017) Mayor William Peduto announced today – in conjunction with a Emergency Medical Services promotion ceremony -- that the City is hiring the most EMS personnel since 2003.
The 197 paramedics and emergency medical technicians in the 2017 budget shows the Mayor's commitment to Public Safety and the workers who put their lives on the line every day to protect Pittsburgh residents. This year the City will have the highest number of police officers since 2002, and the City is seeing growth in workers in the Fire Bureau as well.
"Nothing is more important for the City and its residents than well-staffed Public Safety bureaus. I thank the police, fire and EMS workers – and their families – for the work they do to help keep us safe," Mayor Peduto said.
