PITTSBURGH, PA (July 28, 2014) Mayor William Peduto and his top staff will hear neighborhood concerns and issues Wednesday night in Carrick, in the sixth installment of his “Mayor’s Night Out/Mayor’s Night In” community events.
The session is from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, at the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, 1628 Brownsville Road.
The forum follows five events by Mayor Peduto and his administrators in which they have personally fielded questions from hundreds of city residents. He has held two “Mayor’s Night Out” forums in Beltzhoover and Perry North, and two “Mayor’s Night In” events in his City-County Building office.
On July 17 he held the nation’s first “Mayor’s Night On(line),” where his administration took questions from the community via a Reddit “Ask Me Anything” forum. According to Reddit 59,237 people looked at the AMA and stayed on the page more than twice as long as average. A short video of the event is available here.
Holding the community sessions reflects the Mayor’s efforts to instill transparency and accountability into city government, and follow such moves as making his daily schedule public, hiring top officials through the public Talent City process, creating a Community Affairs team that meets nightly with neighborhood groups, and creating a Bureau of Neighborhood Empowerment to focus strictly on struggling communities.
