PITTSBURGH, PA (Feb. 24, 2015) Pro Football Hall of Famer Jerome Bettis will join Pittsburgh Mayor William Peduto, Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald, the Three Rivers Workforce Investment Board and others Wednesday to officially launch the Summer of Learn and Earn employment program.
Summer youth employment is vital to helping the Greater Pittsburgh region’s low-income youth develop the skills and connections they need to be college and career ready. On Wednesday, leaders will invite corporate, foundation and nonprofit community partners to commit to supporting an investment in the 2015 Learn and Earn program.
The Summer of Learn and Earn is a collaborative approach to employing local youth led by government leaders, the business and philanthropic community, and the region’s workforce system. It will offer meaningful job experiences for youth and a more effective talent pipeline for businesses and the region as a whole.
