PITTSBURGH, PA (June 3, 2016) - The City of Pittsburgh Department of Parks & Recreation (Citiparks) will replace the Schenley Oval artificial surface field in Schenley Park this summer. The project is scheduled to begin on Monday, June 6 and be completed by August 12, 2016.
The field will be closed while the work is being performed.
The current field, which is primarily used for soccer, was installed in 2005 and has reached the end of its serviceable life. The new field surface is expected to last 10 - 15 years. The installation will occur during the summer after the spring soccer season has ended for recreational and travel teams and will be completed before the fall season begins for school teams, recreational, travel and adult leagues.
Citparks is working with other field providers such as Pittsburgh Public Schools and private institutions to accommodate any displaced groups.
