City of Pittsburgh Offices Closed Friday, Garbage Pickup on Schedule, Street Closures In Effect for Veterans Day Parade

PITTSBURGH, PA (November 10, 2016) - City of Pittsburgh offices, recreation centers, and Healthy Active Living centers for seniors will be closed Friday, November 11, 2016 in observance of Veterans Day. 

However refuse, bulk waste and recycling collection will continue on their regular schedules. Those with questions concerning collection may contact the Environmental Services office at 412-255-2773. 

While most Citiparks facilities will be closed the Mellon Park Tennis Center in Shadyside will be open Friday for regular operating hours. 

Veterans Day Parade 

Street closures go into effect at 7 a.m. this Friday, November 11, in advance of that morning’s Veterans Day Parade. 

The parade forms on Liberty Avenue from 10th to 26th streets and kicks off at 10:30 a.m. from Liberty and 10th. The route proceeds inbound on Liberty Avenue toward Commonwealth Place, crossing Stanwix Street, and ends at Liberty and Commonwealth by Point State Park. 

There will be no parking after 7:00 a.m. today through Friday on: 

  • Commonwealth Place between Fort Pitt Boulevard and Fort Duquesne Boulevard 

There will be no parking after 7:00 a.m. on Friday on: 

  • Liberty Avenue between Grant Street and Commonwealth Place 

  • Boulevard of the Allies between Grant and Stanwix 

  • Stanwix between Forbes Avenue and Fort Pitt Boulevard 

  • Smithfield between 7th Avenue & Liberty 

  • All numbered streets in the Strip District from 10th to 26th Streets between Penn and Liberty 

“No Parking” signs will be posted starting today. Streets will reopen following parade completion.
