Weekend Parkway East Closure Postponed Until December 9

PITTSBURGH, PA (November 17, 2016) - The City of Pittsburgh Department of Public Works advises that I-376 East (Parkway East) will remain open this weekend, Nov. 19-21.

The planned closure of the Parkway East has been postponed due to the inclement weather forecasted for Saturday into Sunday. A forecast of rain possibly changing to snow along with strong winds preclude the high steel work planned for the Beechwood Boulevard (Greenfield) Bridge replacement project.

The closure has been rescheduled for Friday, December 9, from 10:00 p.m. until Monday, December 12, at 6:00 a.m.

Posted detours will follow the same routes and patterns as previous Parkway East closures that took place during the bridge implosion in December 2015. Signage will be provided to direct motorists.  Maps of the official detours are available here: Eastbound Detour Map ; Westbound Detour Map.

Off duty police officers will be directing traffic at key intersections to assist motorists along the detour routes and help minimize travel times.

Additional information can be found on the Oakland Transportation Management Association’s (OTMA) community outreach website:

During this closure, Mosites and their team will finish tightening all the connections of the steel, install the deck pans over the highway and perform miscellaneous activities.
