One of 40 mayors worldwide invited to inaugural leadership conference
PITTSBURGH, PA (July 17, 2017) Mayor William Peduto is in New York City today for the first-ever Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership conference, where mayors from around the world are gathering to learn about best practices in municipal government.
He is one of just 40 mayors invited. All costs are being paid by Bloomberg Philanthropies and Harvard University. No Pittsburgh tax dollars are being spent.
Organizers describe the conference this way:
"Today’s local government leaders are grappling with growing and complex challenges while trying to provide real results for citizens. While national governments around the world struggle, mayors must find new ways to use limited resources and deliver a wide range of services for growing populations. The Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership Initiative equips mayors and their senior leaders with cutting-edge tools and techniques to more effectively tackle pressing management challenges faced in their cities."
