The Housing & Urban Empowerment Transition Team, chaired by Chief Urban Affairs Officer Valerie McDonald-Roberts, was charged with offering recommendations to enhance the quality of housing and services for residents of Pittsburgh's low and moderate-income neighborhoods.
The team focused on the following areas:
Developing programs for rebuilding neighborhood housing, block by block.
Improving capacity of non-profit agencies to provide programs and services.
Empowering and coordinating with faith-based organizations.
Improving access and opportunity for minority contractors.
Organizing and empowering residents to improve their communities.
