Art Commission

The Art Commission works to improve the aesthetic quality of the City's public spaces; it is mandated to review the urban design, architectural, and landscape which are erected on or above land owned by the City this to secure excellence in design and a welcoming nature to public spaces; the free light, air, and prospect of the streets and open spaces of the city; and to prevent the obstruction of the free light, air, and prospect of the streets and open spaces of the city by unsightly structures, though lawfully erected.

The Art Commission administers the review process, which includes, conceptual, conceptual/final and final approvals. The Art Commission is also mandated to review all works of art owned by the City of Pittsburgh and also art works proposed to be acquired by the City.
