Telemedicine

What is Telemedicine?

Telemedicine is a new exciting cost effective service for you. Telemedicine is an interactive communication (comparable to an office visit) between you and physicians via phone or video.

Telemedicine can be used for minor illnesses, including flu, coughs and colds, mental health counseling and dermatology, to name a few examples.

It is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. A virtual medicine doctor consultation costs $10.00. Highmark, Aetna, and UPMC all offer this service.

When should you consider Telemedicine?

  • Acute care: Bad cold, child with an earache on vacation.
  • When you can’t wait to see a dermatologist.
  • Follow-up visits with a PCP or specialist when available.

Be sure to familiarize yourself with all the Telemedicine vendors offered to you through your provider and, to sign up BEFORE you need it.

How Do I use Telemedicine?

You can find registration information bellow, for each vendor, depending on which Healthcare provider you are insured through and your individual needs. It's important to get signed up to Telemedicine before you need it!
