Urban Connect is the effort to attract, recruit, develop, engage and retain diverse talent through the engagement of individuals into the cultural vision, vibe, and future of Urban Pittsburgh.
As a regional collaborative initiative Greater Pittsburgh Urban Connect was developed to support the attraction, recruitment, and retention of urban sophisticated professionals and executives throughout the Pittsburgh area. By targeting and engaging diverse demographics, Greater Pittsburgh Urban Connect promotes the vision, the vibe and the future of a thriving Pittsburgh culture.
Greater Pittsburgh Urban Connect, as a City of Pittsburgh lead initiative partners with various companies and organizations including Visit Pittsburgh, Leadership Pittsburgh, Western Pennsylvania Diversity Initiative, UPMC, Greater Pittsburgh YWCA, KDKA Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh Pirates, African American Council for the Arts, Urban Settlements, SAVOY Pittsburgh, and many others committed to the revitalization of the Pittsburgh region.
The initiative is a collaboration across multiple sectors and cultures with a mission to attract, recruit, and retain diversity through a strategic concept of holistic “Engagement”. The collaboration was established in April 2009 and officially formed the Greater Pittsburgh Urban Connect organization in February 2010.
The Launch weekend in August 2010 was a huge success which featured national celebrities such as: R&B Recording Artist and Producer Coco Brown, Hollywood motion picture Actor Mel Jackson, fitness guru to the stars Scott Parker, and many others that highlighted Pittsburgh’s rich culture of urban life.
