Our mission is to provide life safety and a better quality of living to the residents of the City of Pittsburgh. The Department of Permits, Licenses and Inspections works closely with Public Safety Bureaus (Police and Fire), Finance, Public Works and Department of City Planning's Zoning Department.
Many cities have different methods of organizing their departments. We have worked hard to present our services in an intuitive layout on our site. If you have any questions, or would like to speak with someone in person, call our main phone line (412) 255-2175.
Please see the link below for a list of Building Permits pending review, which will be updated weekly. Please be aware that we review permits in the order in which we receive them. The permit number does not necessarily correspond to this order. If your permit is not on the list, it is being currently reviewed, revisions have been requested or has been approved. Please contact 412-255-2175 with any questions.
Please be aware that effective immediately interior demolition work will require a building permit for all residential and commercial buildings and structures.
