PITTSBURGH, PA – The Pittsburgh Bureau of Police is investigating a shooting that occurred at approximately 1:40 a.m. in Hazelwood.

According to the preliminary information from the investigation, a male cab driver was driving outbound on Second Avenue when he was struck in the back by a bullet as he drove between Flowers Avenue and Tecumseh Street. The bullet also blew out the vehicle's rear window, causing investigators to believe the shooter was not inside the vehicle. Paramedics transported him to UPMC Mercy. He was alert and conscious in stable condition. No further information is available at this time. Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact police by calling 9-1-1.
