Volunteers with Cool Roofs will join the servePGH team in a day of roof painting on select Cool Roofs sites. Volunteers will prime and paint a reflective white coat on City roofs and help reduce energy costs and lower CO2 emissions!

The schedule below is a template for a Cool Roof painting day. Please note: All agendas and schedules are tentative and subject to change based on weather conditions.
First shift of volunteers arrive and
Locate the service site supervisor to check in
Discuss project goals
9:00 Safety Speech/Orientation
9:30 Primer Coat Applied
Primer coat typically takes about 1 hour to cure/dry.
There will be other tasks for volunteers as needed on-site.
11:00 First Top Coat Applied
First top coat typically takes 2-4 hours to dry.
The first shift of volunteers may leave at this time and are welcome to return to paint the second top coat.
3:30 Second Top Coat Applied
Second shift of volunteers arrive.
4:30-5:00 Clean Up and Dismissal
Any organization interested in participiating may apply. Because Cool Roofs involves painting on rooftops, volunteers must be over the age of 18.
