CITY OF PITTSBURGH’S DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS PREPARES FOR POTENTIAL WINTER WEATHER EVENT

Pittsburgh, PA – In an abundance of caution, the City of Pittsburgh’s Department of Public Works (DPW) is preparing for a potential winter weather event tomorrow, Saturday, February 8, in the afternoon. While minimal snowfall is expected, DPW is also preparing for the possibility of additional snow events throughout next week.

In the event that snow begins to accumulate, residents are encouraged to avoid parking on the streets, if possible, to facilitate the swift treatment of roadways. Priority will be given to streets providing access to hospitals, emergency routes, and public safety facilities.

“We are preparing for the potential of winter weather this Saturday, as well as the greater likelihood of several small snow events next week,” said Chris Hornstein, Director of the Department of Public Works.

DPW reminds residents that it takes up to 24 hours after the snow stops falling to treat all city streets. If a street has not been cleared within that timeframe, residents are encouraged to contact 3-1-1 for assistance.
