VISION ZERO FATAL CRASH RESPONSE: ROWAN STREET AND PAULSON AVENUE

Fatal Crash Response Team Conduct Site Visit with Pittsburgh Police Collision Investigation Unit

Pittsburgh, PA – Our Vision Zero Fatal Crash Response Team, which includes the Pittsburgh Police Collision Investigation Unit, conducted a site visit at the intersection of Rowan Street and Paulson Avenue in the Lincoln-Lemington neighborhood where a single-motorist fatal crash occurred. Based on the visit, the City will implement the following infrastructure revisions for this intersection:

  1. Advance curve warning sign and pavement markings approaching the curve.
  1. Advisory speed limit sign of 15 MPH at the bend.
  1. Chevron signs along the curve for increased visibility.

These infrastructure updates are intended to enhance awareness that the roadway curves at the intersection of Rowan St. and Paulson Ave. and prepare drivers to navigate the turn at lower speeds.

The Vision Zero Fatal Crash Response Team works to address factors that contribute to fatal crashes in real time, while the Department of Mobility and Infrastructure continues to work on making our roads a safer place through projects like the Neighborhood Traffic Calming Program, Traffic Signals Upgrades, and Traffic Safety Suite projects.
