Date: December 14, 2023 Incident Type: Shooting Location: Zone 21 Summary:
Just after 3 p.m., Zone 2 officers responded to 9-1-1 calls for multiple shots fired inside Arby's located in the 800 block of Liberty Avenue.
Upon arrival, the two males involved in the exchange of gunfire had fled from the area. Officers located and detained one male not far from the scene with a gunshot wound to his upper left leg. Medics transported him to the hospital in stable condition.
One firearm was recovered in the area of Fifth Avenue and Wood Street.
Police are reviewing all available video footage as they continue to search for a second suspect, a male believed to be in his mid-twenties. The initial investigation indicates that the two individuals possibly knew each other and had some type of altercation before shots were fired.
There were employees and patrons inside the restaurant at the time of the incident, but no one else was injured.
The Crime Scene Unit processed evidence at the scene. Violent Crime Unit detectives will continue the investigation.
