Police, Fire, and EMS Respond to Vehicle Collision on Chartiers Avenue

Summary:

Pittsburgh Police, Fire, and EMS responded to the 2600 block of Chartiers Avenue just before 8:00 a.m. for a two-vehicle collision.

A small SUV was headed outbound when the adult female driver crossed the center line. She was pinned in the vehicle with serious injuries. Medics provided care, including giving whole blood in the field, while Rescue 2 removed the roof of the vehicle and created an extrication pathway.

She was transported to a local hospital in serious condition.

The adult male driver of the second vehicle, a passenger sedan, was headed inbound when the head-on collision happened. His vehicle was flipped onto its side and he sustained minor injuries. He was transported by Pittsburgh EMS in stable condition to an area hospital.

Chartiers Avenue was closed while the scene was cleared, but has since reopened.
