Date: May 2, 2024 Incident Type: Partial Building Collapse Location: Zone 5 Summary:
Just before 11:00 a.m., Pittsburgh Police, Fire, and EMS were dispatched to the 1100 block of North Highland Avenue for a reported partial wall collapse with workers potentially in danger.
Responders arrived to find the top of the building facade had partially given way with two male workers dangling from a scaffolding platform. The workers were wearing safety harnesses so they did not fall from the rigging.
Fire used an extension ladder and the two men climbed down to safe ground.
One victim denied any injuries and the other one had minor abrasions and a potential forehead injury. He was transported in stable condition for medical evaluation.
PLI was notified to evaluate for any potential structural issues.
