Following complaints from residents in the Carrick and Bon Air neighborhoods regarding thefts from vehicles, plain clothes detectives from zone three have been conducting an overnight detail.
Just before 4:15 a.m. on March 14, the detectives heard a 9-1-1 call at 630 Brownsville Road for three males attempting to open car doors in a nearby alley.
Upon their arrival, they encountered three males matching the description of the suspects. The males ran from detectives, who apprehended one of them following a foot pursuit.
Police arrested Dominique Hawkins, 20, and charged him with Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Receiving Stolen Property, Theft from a Vehicle, Evading Arrest, and Loitering and Prowling at Night.
The investigation is ongoing.
