Pittsburgh Police Respond to Landslide in Polish Hill

Summary:

Just before 3:00 a.m., Pittsburgh Police responded to Brereton Street just past Haran Street in the Polish Hill neighborhood for reports of a landslide.

Arriving officers observed a large spray of water in the roadway coming from a broken water main. Additionally, the undermined roadway/area had slid down the adjacent hillside causing debris to cover a portion of the M.L.K Jr. East Busway below.

No injuries were reported.

PWSA was notified of the water main break and arrived on scene to shut the water off and Department of Public Works crews placed barricades around the impacted area.

Access to the 28th Street Bridge is not obstructed and remains available.

At the time of writing, area residents were alerted to the situation, but no evacuations were necessary. The Busway remains closed.
