Police Respond to Shots Fired in Garfield, Two Officers Injured

Summary:

Just before 4:20 a.m., Pittsburgh Police from Zone 5 were dispatched to the 5300 block of Cornwall Street for a one-round ShotSpotter notification.

Upon arrival, officers heard several more rounds being fired. As officers approached the residence where the shots originated from, they witnessed a multi-person domestic situation taking place.

An adult male in the home was uncooperative and became combative with police. As he was being detained, he assaulted two officers—one sustained a dislocated knee cap and was transported by medics to an area hospital. The other sustained superficial wounds to their hand and was evaluated by medics on scene.

The suspect was taken into custody. He faces multiple forthcoming charges.
