SWAT Called Following Armed Robbery in Homewood North

Summary:

At approximately 1:00 p.m., Pittsburgh Police from Zone 5 were dispatched to the 7000 block of Hermitage Street for reports of a female robbed at gun point.

Arriving officers located the adult female victim who stated she was in her car when a young male actor approached her, brandished a firearm, and attempted to rob her. The actor was then seen running into a nearby house.

The male actor proceeded to barricade himself in the residence. SWAT operators were called out and attempts were made to contact the male.

After repeated hails, the juvenile male surrendered without further incident. He was taken into custody and transported to the Allegheny County Jail.

A second male in the home, an adult, also responded to the hails and surrendered himself to police. He was arrested on other outstanding charges not related to the armed robbery. He was also transported to the ACJ.

No injuries were reported.

Several area schools were put into lockdown as a precaution due to the proximity to the scene. They were dismissed without incident.
