Special Victims Unit detectives are searching for a missing 84-year-old man with dementia.

Karl Van Ausdal drove away from his residence in the 300 block of East End Avenue at approximately 7:00 p.m. on December 4, 2024. However, due to his diagnosis and his inability to navigate himself, he no longer drives.

Karl is described as 5’8” tall, 165 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes.

Karl is believed to be in a 2011 Subaru Forester, silver in color, with PA plate JND8180. The vehicle was last seen on I-376 inbound at the Squirrel Hill Tunnel.
