Original post:

Just after 3:20 p.m., Pittsburgh Police were dispatched to a domestic call inside an apartment in the 200 block of E. Ohio Street.

Responding units spoke with the female party outside who said her 7-month-old daughter and 21-month-old son were inside with their father. The male gained access to the apartment following an altercation and was making threatening statements to hurt them.

SWAT, negotiators, EMS tactical medics (TEMS), and Fire all responded to the scene. Negotiators were able to make early contact with the male in an effort to encourage him to surrender peacefully.

Eventually, SWAT was able to create a diversion to separate the suspect from the children and extricate them from the home unharmed. They were evaluated by medics on scene and reunited with their mother.

The male was taken into custody and multiple charges are pending.
