VPU Detectives Make Arrest, Recover Firearm and Narcotics

Violence Prevention Unit (VPU) detectives continue with their focused efforts to remove firearms from city streets.
On Saturday, January 18, 2025, detectives conducted a traffic stop at Beacon Street and Bartlett Street following a number of driving violations and a suspended license for the vehicle's registered owner.
Upon questioning the driver, detectives spotted a marijuana cigarette in plain view and the odor of marijuana inside the vehicle. Search incident to arrest, detectives recovered  quantities of heroin, crack cocaine, marijuana, and cash on his person. A firearm was also recovered after receiving consent from the registered owner for police to search the vehicle.
Jayron Johnson, 19, was arrested on multiple charges, including Persons Not to Possess a Firearm and Carrying a Firearm Without a License. He was transported to the Allegheny County Jail.
