Guidance for Small Cell Facilities in the City of Pittsburgh

Overview
The Department of Mobility and Infrastructure (DOMI) is in the final stages of certifying and publishing Guidance for Small Cell Facilities in the City of Pittsburgh, which should be viewed as a complement to the City’s Small Cell Aesthetic Standards. This guidance applies to the public ROW under the stewardship of DOMI. It does not extend to any public lot, park, other public property, or private property.

The document provides guidance on the location, design, and construction of new or replacement small cell facilities that provide telecommunication service in the public right-of-way (ROW). The guidance also outlines a process for ensuring consistency in the review of permit applications.

Input
At this stage in the process, we are providing our Guidance for Small Cell Facilities to the public for inquiry and feedback. The Department requires that any notes be submitted through the input form, linked below, between April 5, 2021 and April 25, 2021. Redline markups of the document will only be accepted if accompanied by a entry in the input form.

After the window is closed and notes are considered, the guidance will be finalized and published. A compendium of changes between the draft and final documents will be made available on this webpage.
