PLEASE NOTE: In response to the ongoing nationwide outbreak of COVID-19, a State of Emergency has been declared in the City of Pittsburgh. Measures may include cancelling or limiting large gatherings, and cancelling or limiting events or gatherings that require City permits. Due to the rapidly evolving situation involving the COVID-19 virus, the City of Pittsburgh will be temporarily suspending the issuance of film permits for crews of any size beginning immediately and effective indefinitely.


Location managers and film producers can apply for the following permits through FilmApp:

  • Permits for the parking of production trucks for shoots on private property
  • Low-impact shoots that occur on City of Pittsburgh property
  • High-impact shoots that occur on City of Pittsburgh property and require the coordination of City services or assets
  • Permits for commercial still photography shoots on City of Pittsburgh property
