#TOGETHERAPARTPGH 'VIRTUAL 5K' JULY 15 - AUGUST 15, 2020

#TOGETHERAPARTPGH "VIRTUAL 5K" JULY 15 - AUGUST 15, 2020

PRESENTED BY: City of Pittsburgh Office of Special Events in partnership with five community footraces

BACKGROUND:  On May 15, Mayor William Peduto announced changes to the 2020 City of Pittsburgh’s schedule of summer events due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to social distancing restrictions, the Community Footrace Series will not occur in its traditional format (5 separate races), however, a combined virtual race option is launching in summer 2020.

OVERVIEW:  #TOGETHERAPARTPGH VIRTUAL 5K will showcase the City’s scenic parks and diverse neighborhoods by bringing together five beloved community footraces – Brookline Breeze, Greenfield Glide, Historic Hill 5K, Regent Square Run Around the Square and Riverview Park 5K – in an exciting new format.

Run a 5K course – options include one of the five traditional courses, a new course showcased on the website or a course you develop yourself –  or gather the family and run one of the shorter "fun run" courses.

All registered participants will receive a souvenir race shirt via mail. Shirts will be mailed in late August.

FORMAT:  Registered participants will run the course of their favorite community 5Ks or a course of their choosing that equals 5K (3.1 miles) during "Race Month" of July 15 - August 15.  Pass familiar course sights or discover new areas of the city.  Make it a true race experience by reporting your time!
