Hospital Compliance Video

The video on this page features Dr. Katherine Seelman, Professor of Rehabilitation Science and Technology and Associate Dean of Disability Programs at the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Seelman formerly served on the City-County Task Force on Disabilites.

In 2010, the ADA Office within the City of Pittsburgh Department of City Planning announced the launch of the Hospital Compliance Guidelines for Deaf, Deaf-Blind, and Hard-of-Hearing; the Hospital Compliance Guidelines began with a survey. This survey was sent out to hospital administrators and to consumers to evaluate procedures and experiences of the consumers on how a patient or family member who is deaf, deaf-blind, and hard of hearing should go about receiving proper accommodations at the hospital and receive the best possible treatment.
