OFFICE OF EQUAL PROTECTION

Welcome

Hello Disability Community Members and Advocates,

Thank you for visiting the Hospital Compliance Website. This website was designed in collaboration with the creation of our ADA Hospital Compliance Guidelines for the Deaf, Deaf-Blind, and Hard-of-Hearing Population to allow us, the ADA Office of the City of Pittsburgh, to track community members' experiences at the various area hospitals. The Hospital Compliance Guidelines are designed to provide resources for healthcare consumers who are Deaf, Deaf-Blind or Hard-of-Hearing, and to monitor the accessibility of care to this population. You will find information for your rights under ADA and uniform guidelines on how hospitals should provide health services to the Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing, through the manual of ADA Hospital Compliance Guidelines for Deaf, Deaf-Blind, and Hard-of-Hearing Consumers.

Also, this website will allow members of the disability community to give anonymous feedback through a survey about their experiences at area hospitals. The data collected will be distributed to the appropriate hospital in order to assist the hospital to better accommodate individuals with disabilities. Our hope is that distribution of the Hospital Compliance Guidelines for the Deaf, Deaf-Blind, and Hard-of-Hearing, as well as the survey results, will assist area hospitals in providing the most effective accommodations for the disability community to make the hospital visit experience less stressful and more enjoyable.
