Police Officer Injured By Vehicle Leaving Scene of Traffic Stop

Summary:
Just before 3 a.m., Zone 5 officers initiated a traffic stop at Frankstown Avenue and Fifth Avenue for a vehicle matching the description of one leaving the scene of an earlier Shotspotter alert in the 7300 block of Race Street.
Shortly after officers approached the vehicle, the driver pulled away, striking one officer in the left leg.
Police briefly followed the vehicle.
The injured officer was evaluated by paramedics, but did not require transport to the hospital.
The investigation is ongoing.
