The City of Pittsburgh Bureau of Police Releases Numbers from the Third Round of Abandoned Vehicle Blitz

Summary:

This month, the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police completed its third blitz to remove abandoned vehicles from City streets in the Manchester, Marshall-Shadeland, Woods Run, Troy Hill, Lower Perrysville and Upper Perrysville neighborhoods.

 Police initially investigated 86 complaints to the City’s 3-1-1 system for abandoned vehicles in these neighborhoods over a 3-day process.

During July 11 and 12th, through the efforts of Motorcycle Units and Abandoned Vehicle Officers from multiple police zones, a total of 60 complaints were addressed, which resulted in:

 

·         57 found to be gone from the area.

·         3 were legally registered.

·         4 vehicles not listed in the 3-1-1 complaints were discovered. Registered letters will be sent for vehicles that met the criteria for towing as abandoned, but not more than 90 days expired, which can be towed immediately.

 

On July 13, police investigated 26 complaints.

 

·         23 vehicles towed

·         1 vehicle found to be gone from the area.

·         2 registered letters will be sent for vehicles that met the criteria for towing as abandoned, but not more than 90 days expired, which can be towed immediately.
